Race Report: Lake Pflugerville Tri 2015
Goal time: 1:09:59
Finish Time: 1:10:32
Weather: For the Lake Pflugerville Tri it was overcast around 80 degrees with 95% humidity and a 50% chance of rain.
Food: In the morning I had two pieces of Ezekiel bread 4:9 with Chobani 0% fat greek yogurt with 1.5 cups of coffee.
Right before the race I ate a few Bonk Breakers Chews (I love these things). During the race I sipped on PhD Nutrition Battery +/- Mango flavor. I put 2 scoops in 20 oz. of water and it worked perfectly. I felt hydrated with no water sloshing.
Play-by-play: I did not start until 8:15 due to the parking situation, instigated by the weather. I knew going into the swim there would be hydrilla everywhere, but it was not as bad as I thought. I started out in the front and got trampled, but I found my groove at the halfway point. When I got on the bike I had a difficult time finding my pace and had to get our of aero several times. I completely forgot about some of the false flats and hills in the beginning. The last three miles ended up slowing me down with the rough roads and the ambulance/fire truck (I hope who ever fell is okay). I was ready for the run and chased a girl who did the race in a bikini (she had the bod). I nailed a 6:32 pace which felt solid.
